Default How do you crinkle coat an intake manifold.

Well just like the title says, does it just come in a spray paint can? How do you apply it? I really don't know anything about it that stuff. I tried doing a google search and I couldn't find anything. Can someone please elaborate more on that stuff for me?

Crinkle paint but it sucks to apply. Ultra temperature and humidity sensitive. Plus a paint won't bond to any oils or grease. Bead blast no matter which direction you go.

Ok cool. I'm lucky enough to have a heated garage so that's not a problem. I'll clean them up real nice. But it's cheaper than powder coating. Alright ill go shopping and find some cans of this stuff.

A powder coater i visited recently showed me some samples of their crinkle finish, i forget the details but they said the application process is very similar to powder coating.

I'd personally let them handle it as opposed to doing the can version

the can cost like 12 dollars at auto zone, you just need to know how to apply an even coat of paint

Definitely agree with vinh, powdercoating is the way to go for a lasting finish, but if its not in the budget at the moment, the crinkle paint in the spray can is a viable and relatively inexpensive solution. The # 1 rule though is don't skip the prep. Clean the manifold thoroughly with some sort of degreaser. A good coat of a high temp primer will help the top coat adhere better. Just make sure to keep consistence spray spray patterns with your paint and all should work out. Post up some pics if you decide on doing it yourself!
