Seriously, why has no one used plasti dip not only as a base coat, and to protect from overspray?

It's a simple concept if you're looking for your wheels to be a different color...

Long story short: I found some wheels, with great specs fora good deal. Yes they were gold, and the silly mesh look I'm not a big fan of, but I needed wheels

Everyone loved the gold, but I was ehh on it. So I plasti dipped them BLACK, and used That Chrome interior paint you get at VATO zone. I wanted to try red, a deep red. So here I did 6 coats of VHT tail light red to bring a deep chromish shine.

That felt too HONDA to me. SO I went with more plasti dip as a base and just used the chrome (with lacquer) 5 coats. This is how the wheels look finished.

Tret, those look great. So if I read your post right you sprayed plastidip on it and then some sort of chrome paint? If that’s right what brand and model of paint did you use?

It was the interior "CHROME" spray from O'Reily's. It dulls out with clear so I just did a few coats with it. I didn't want a "chrome-chrome" look, but something a bit more shiny than the grey/aluminum look.

As for the plasti dip, you just peel off the excess. What just happens to cover over spray. easy-par-cheesy
