Default How do I reset a engine check light?

is there a way to reset an engine check light without going to a service place or a dealer? I know what the problem is cause i took it into the lexus dealer a couple months ago because of it but now the light turned back on and the traction control isnt working because of the light.

disconnect your battery for about 15 seconds, this will reset your computer. and as far as your problem goes the Trac light is coming on along with your check engine light because one of your "MAIN O2 sensors" needs to be replaced. This light will come on as soon as you begin to run rich again for example on a high way or something or at high speeds. You will also start to notice ****%y gas mileage after a month driving like that weather the check engine light is on or not. Bottom line is your Front O2 sensor is shot so light or no light things will not go away just cause the light is off.

Peace

I have never had a "check" light come on, but I have noticed that my Lex smells like it's running rich when it is first started. Could that be an O2 sensor, or is that normal? What is the expected service life of an O2 sensor?
