Default Maybe a happy new sc300 owner

I have a friend who has two sc300's he is finally thinking about getting rid of. He bought these two awhile back as a project for his wife. Turns out I guess she wanted to go another direction. They are both 92's. first one is an automatic with a 2jz and clean title. Second is a 5 speed 2jz with a salvaged title. This one also comes with struts springs exhaust etc. I have also had the sc300 on my list of cars I would love to own and nows my chance. I would love to get people's opinions on these cars before I buy. I am a decent at turning a wrench and managed to squeeze 500fwhp out of my cobalt ss. But it's time for a change, I need a new platform and I want rwd.

Well hopefully I look forward to chat with you guys more in the future if I become the owner of my first 2jz

Man, sounds like a touch choice? Auto w/clean title, or manual w/salvage title? What's the mileage? Any pics of the SCs? Oh, before I forget-Welcome to CL!
Check out the "sticky" column, and SC 4/3 Classifieds. There's tons of information here, GL.

Salvaged title may not be that bad honestly. I'f find out exactly what happened to it and go from there. Chances are as the frame wasnt bent to ****, its fine.

Well these come as a package deal. I have to get both. I will go see them today and get more info and pics. If I like them I'll pick them up this weekend.

Any good links for some good general knowledge on these cars?

And thanks for the welcome.

Just know they are both 92's, they are both over 21 years old. Carfax both of them, and register the vin numbers on lexus to see if they've had proper maintenance to help avoid costly repairs, or at least be able to expect them like the 120K maintenance. And even though he's your friend you gotta point out the flaws...project or not they get expensive, get the best price possible.

thats awesome if you do get both because you can exchange parts and sell the rest sounds like you can get a sweet deal if your planning to go 5 speed anyway then just keep the 5 speed as someone pointed out they usually arent bent to **** .... plus im sure it would require much more to convert later

buy em...its a 92, yeah stuff will need to be replaced. If you can turn a wrench and afford parts youll be ok. but id swap the 5 speed into the clean title car and then part out the salvage car. youll likely come out ahead money wise. you could also just sell it as is as a parts car. You could also build the exrta motor and not have to worry about down time.

I'll second 2jznosht. Get em, and swap the tranny. It'll bolt right in, and then you can part out the old one for all ya can and then junk it.
