So many of us SC owners that are making the switch to the short stubby antenna from the long automatic antenna are mainly using the s2000 antenna. i have found a cheaper solution! I was roaming the junk yard and came across an old for tarus or impalla, not quite sure, but i decided to take off the antenna and mod it to fit my SC. Would you know it was a close fit with some mods and fabrication done I now have a manual antenna stub for about 10$!!
im just waiting to find a stub to put on.
all you need is to do is pop out the ford antenna from bracket with a 14mm socket hammer it out and place it in the oem antenna bracket and boom ill post more pics soon.
pretty much i was going to post a thread on how to do it but it became to long and to many mods to make it simple but afterwards i found a simpler way to make this work.
Thats what im saying lol , our stock antennas look like a fishing pole is sticking out.
Personally I like the factory retractable antenna. I repaired mine when I bought my car. It's a reminder of the car's 90's vintage to me but to each his own. That said, I recently converted my father's 1994 Camry from retractable to S2k antenna when the aerial broke. I'll probably collect the parts to convert mine and keep them in a box just in case I ever need them.
I'm glad the OP has found an alternative, though! Something I never figured it was finding the right inline booster to restore the AM and FM signal strength with the s2k antenna. This is something the Toyota/Lexus system was very good at.
only reason why I like the antenna is because it retracts. so if im looking for a show quality all I gotta do Is turn off my radio. plus I don't like antennas at all, especially while im looking at my car from the outside.
