Just picked up my 3rd 5 speed SC300
Hey guys, so i picked up this 93 SC300. It's the third one I pick up.
The first one i got when i was 18 and i had no idea what was coming at me. It was a 93 5 speed, bought it for 3500. It was black on tan, the perfect combination that i was looking for, so i was already sold. I was too young to realize that i was walking into a very big PIT. I drove it around for about 2 months and i realized that the oil light kept coming on. Turns out there was an oil leak......from EVERYWHERE. So i thought "no biggie" i'll just keep topping it off. It started off as 1 qt a month and then it went to 1 qt every 2 weeks. The oil leak caused the steering rack/column to loosen, so when i steered the wheel would turn a few degrees and then the steering would kick in. After a while it got really bad and the steering wheel would turn about 45 degrees before the car responded. About 4 months later, the head gasket blew. And that was the end of that.
I ended up selling it for 1500. Lesson learned.
Then one of my cousins mentioned to me one of his buddies had a 5 speed he was selling, and again, i jumped on it. It looked alot cleaner than my first one. He was selling for 2000, he had told me the only problem he knew of was that it needed a new battery, the interior was off (but he had "all the parts") and the passenger door didn't open, from either side. I just thought that it was the handle but it turned out to be something entirely different. The engine bay looked clean, he mention the previous owner put in a 95 2jzge because the original 93 had gotten messed up. He started it up and it was fine but I'm an idiot and i didn't test drive it, the car at the time had no plates so he "didn't want to get stopped by the police if we drove it around" nevertheless, here i was handing over the 2k and i brought home this primer black SC. I've had it since October of 2012 and it's been in my back yard, there's been progress but still haven't been able to DD it.
Fast forward to April of this year, and i was in the market for another SC. I had decided i was going to buy another sc, that was clean, and then sell the one in the back so i went to go visit 4 SC's, all of them didn't pass my inspection. They were all going for about 4000 when in reality they were only worth about 2000.
Then this SC got posted up on craigslist, and it looked nice. And all my previous "must haves" such as "black on black or black on tan" or "clean interior" or "cheap" were thrown out the window. This time i didn't settle for anything but a clean SC. And i think i got just that!
Let me know what you guys think! My 3rd 5 speed sc. Gold on Tan.

On the first one i was real close to buying an auto and then doing the swap but then the last second at around 8pm it popped up, and thats also another reason why i was so stubborn and i just WANTED it.

Nice pick up third times a charm. I had 2 SC's before the one I currently have but unfortunately my third one is a 97 automatic black on black. My first 2 were manual but not the color I wanted so I sacrificed transmission choice for color combo and body style. If only we can combine all our SC's together for the perfect one. LOL!
