Default combination switch replacement

im trying to replace my combination switch and clock spring. i cant get the connector over the a/c duct under the steering column. anyone have an easier way of doin this rather then taking my whole dash apart? i tried removing the panel that has the ignition switch and it wont come out.

can someone pleaseee pull there taillight relay, and check for voltage at the bottom terminal(coil/control ground)? i think its terminal 2. mine has 12v and i dont think im supposed to have anything there.

bump...can someone help me out n test at terminal 2 of the taillight relay?
