Default Electrical Issue

95 SC300

So today was the day where it rained HEAVILY in the DC Baltimore area. I went to start my car, started fine and idle fine. When I start to move, the entire electrical system flickered from the radio, dash lights, to the engine. The flickering lasted for a second and went away, my engine did not stop. I started moving again and it did the same.

I have checked virtually any main harness wirings I could easily access. Fuse block is dry, ECU is dry, all wire connectors under the hood looks to be dry, harness in the wheel well is intact and dry, battery cable is spotless.

I am going to check the grounding on the engine/trans and chassis under the hood when I get a chance.

I'm not taking my car to the body shop and decided not to go to hyperfest. Not risking to be stranded.

I drove to VA Beach in the rain, there and back, no problem. I drove to OC this past weekend, no problem. I drove in the rain before multiple times, no problem. But ny car sat in the torrential rain for an hour and I get an electrical short of sort.

Let me know if I should check anything else out. Hopefully, simple fix.

I'm going to lift it up and take the wheel off to get a better look. But as what I could see, those wires are fine. The car never had an aggressive suspension/ wheel set up so there shouldnt be any rubbing.

I actually did! Simple really, I am guessing the factory grounds are sometimes insufficient. Basically I made my own grounding kit but you can buy already made kit from ebay and other various sites. Never had the issue since.

Sounds like your factory ground cables finally went bad. This seems to be an issue with pre 95's, the copper cables just deteriorate/corrode and blah, ground problems.

Well it could be. I looked at the ground cables and they all looked fine, even cleaned some of them. As long as the issue is gone lol
