I've seen references to these in several different threads. I just searched for any discussion of them and came back pretty much dry. MY 96 doesn't make a peep if I leave the roof open, lock up and walk away.

Were these alarms fitted as standard or Lexus optional equip on some SCs or are these people talking about after market alarm systems? If they were Lexus equip, when were they installed and how are they supposed to work?

My car beeps if the roof is ajar'd when i pull the key out. Uses the same beeper as the headlight or key in ignition beep.

Man I dont get any beeps even if the headlights are on or if the roof is open or if the gear is in D or anything put P. The only beep I get is if my seat belt isnt on and thats when I turn the car on.

 

if i leave my headlights switched on and turn off the key and open the door they shut off by themselves.

 

mine too. If I leave it on auto lights and pull the key out, the lights go out when I open the door. I don't have anything beeping for the moonroof though.

headlight: no beeps but auto shut-off when the door opens.

Mine has the moonroof-ajar beep. Hard to tell if it was standard or a part of my aftermarket alarm because I got my alarm installed the same week I took delivery on the car, and didn't even discover the beep until two months later. It scared the crap out of me though, thought my car had a bomb in it or something! My guess is that it's a stock feature because I didn't pay for a moonroof alert module or anything.

Don't think ES300 owners got this until 1997.

My 90LS has it though. Beeps if the roof is tilted up but not if it's all the way open.

 

Not that I noticed.

 

my 92 has teh roof beep and the lights (92's don't have the auto light function) automatically turn off when i get out of the car. The roof beep only works when the roof is tilted, not opened fully.

Tried it yesterday.....no beep on either partially or fully open, key in, or key out of ignition.
Must be giving me the silent treatment.
