SC300 Head Unit Question
hi.. i have problem.. as you know the sc300 stock head unit is 2.5 din... i want to put a single aftermarket head unit.. so theres like 1.5 din space left... i wanna ask what you guys use to cover it or put it to use?... i have been searching all over the place for a replacement pocket or a car installation kit and there aren't any around. my location car audio shops recommend customing the left over din space.. One place said fiber glassing the thing would be around 400 bucks and other places charge 175 just to puta piece of plastic over it... so any recommendations?

gap
Some people put in little plastic pockets that will hold stuff. Other people like Silverbolt and myself (working on it anyway) are doing custom work with engraved "Lexus" pieces in there.
Do a search for Silverbolt's posts and look for one that says "I'm back......."

Hey BLkSc300, welcome to Club Lexus. Here's a link to what I did:

BTW, Tim I'm looking forward to seeing your finished product, will it be soon? My system is now complete! Well for the time being at least I just got a 12" Kicker Competition Sub, another Kicker amp, & a box with a plexi front cover. I've got some deeeep bass now! I'll post some pics soon.

its close
Johnny,
It's close. I got my plexiglass din laser engraved so it is super clean and has very smooth fonts. Also, you will be able to see the "lexus" and the symbol during the day when the green neon is not on. I am toying with the idea of using the now defunct volume control as an on/off switch for the neon.
I also just got my JL Audio 10ib4 to put in the stock location.
I'm just waiting for the guy I'm using to do some of the install stuff to get some time. He' s an assistant install mngr at Circuit City and they are still slammed with people who still haven't got their systems installed from xmas. Hopefully in the next week or two now......
