That's a shame to see another SC go down. It's good to see you came out alright.

1, im happy everyone is all right.

2, all you guys are over reacting with your 'thats another one down'

it would only take a few grand in used parts to get that car back on the road.

from what im seeing: windshield, fender(s,) bumper, headlighs, fogs, radiator support,
radiator (probably,) and a little bit more.

I'm sorry about your SC, it's always hard to see something you invested your heart into just get damaged. As always, the SC is faithful and you walked away from that accident unharmed

When I see these pictures, I feel such fear because accidents can happen at any time. I don't ever want to lose my SC, and I'm sure you felt the same way Thanks for sharing your pics even though they hurt D:

Keep your head up, because I'm more than sure that a new car that you enjoy will be in your future. When bad things happen to good people, it doesn't go unnoticed. Good luck to you sir, and I am glad that you are okay.

Btw, Question.

How come when accidents happen, it's always the innocent people who bare the most damage? Like you'll see someone who was completely wrong and cause an accident but when you look at their car there is no damage. And then when you look at your own car its like WTF happened! I hate that :\

The frame is most likely bent from the front and I've been rear ended in that car before so the frame in the back was bent before too. That's another thing you need to take into account. Also from what I saw under the hood, it looks like more engine parts were damaged. It was smoking after the crash so I'm not sure what happened, yet. Possibly the side fenders are gone too.

Also, you forgot the interior (airbags, etc).

edit -- Also, anything out there is fixable, I think people were just mostly referring to the fact that it's sad to see the SC go down like this. It will never be the same again.

Sorry to hear about your car..
Did you feel your brakes and ABS was under powered to stop the car at all? How much of a time did you have to apply the brakes

I doubt it is reasonably fixable unless you are the body shop owner yourself..
Sure everything that is bolted on can be fixed, what about all the sheared metals parts?
The smoke is probably from the coolant spraying over hot exhaust manifold, though.

tow it to any bay area body shop and ask how much to fix out of pocket, I bet no one would touch it.

Yup sounds about right.

I've mostly made my decision. I will be buying it back from insurance and parting it out. Not 100% sure but I'll keep CL posted about my decision!

That actually looks fixable judging from the pics, unless there is frame damage. Glad everyone is ok

i ruled out frame damage because your car looks similar to mine after a freeway accident.

(and my similar situation also prompted me to think that it wouldnt take much to get the car back on the road)
similar situation as you, but i rear ended a pick up truck.
frame turned out alright in my situation. which of course doesnt mean yours will be undamaged.
but yeah, bumper, fenders, hood, lights, radiator & components, radiator core, etc
rather than drill out a rad core from another car and then have it welded in i just had the car tubed & tubbed for a grand.

airbags can be had for less than $100, but i didnt think about the dash, if yours is cracked. and yes paint is at least a few grand to get it color matched and all that. so lookin at it, it would take a chunk a change but she is savable/fixable... i think that was my point.

if the car still drive-able, i would buy it back and fix it up. it is hard to find a nice 1999 black in black clean SC.

Good Luck.
