Default Adhesive for dust plastic in doors?

Does anyone know what the black adhesive is that holds the dust/water plastic sheet in place in the doors? My Sc was missing the plastic, so I made my own. I tried to use a black tar, in a caulk tube, but it got hard and failed.

Use 3M double sided tape. Stuff works great when prepped right.

What 1JZPWRD says is true, double sided tape will work just fine.

The product used by just about all auto manufacturers for this purpose is butyl tape, which does about the same thing. It won't dry out, stays sticky for longer than the life of the car. While called tape, it's actually round in cross section, a little like the thickness of a pencil. Usually about $10 for a 15 foot roll.

the "butyl tape" is what many manufacturers used to secure the moisture barriers between the door and door cards. I remember going by my local Ford dealer some years back and picking up a roll for about $10. Works like a charm for this kind of repair.

A guy at Autozone told me to use weatherstrip adhesive, but they were out. I ran down to my local U-pull for something else, and found a used water/dust plastic with plenty of the original sealer still on it. Thanks for the information though, I'm sure it will come in handy in the future.
