Default Testing cluster needles

I grabbed a set of needles out of a junkyard SC. Is there a safe way to test them before I try them in my cluster?
Thanks.

I tested some once with a 12 volt source, but just momentarily. I think if you light them for long without some kind of driver they will overheat and fail in short order.

Use a 9 volt battery. Less strain and good for testing them.. no wires needed. Just sit the needle in between the terminal of the battery. If it doesn't work, turn the battery around.

Thanks! That's just the kind of information I needed.
