Default VVT or not?

I recently bought two sc300s. I will daily drive one and build one to have some fun. My plan will be to build a turbo drag type car out of one of them. One is a 92 and one is a 99. Which one would be the best turbo car? Any advantage or disadvantage to either?

Yeah 99 compared to 92 is a world of a difference, Daily the 99 and tune the 92.

^ vvti is great to mess with. Just expensive. And in a drag car pointless, as you'll be using a two step to build boost off the line and skipping the entire driveabilty portion of the show which is where vvti really shines.

Yeah, the 92 is much more expendable than the 99. So go nuts with the 92 since there are plenty more of them than 99s

I've modded my '99 400 with some bolt ons that have really allowed the car to come to life, almost a perfect sports car.
But I agree with everyone else, you can beat on the 92, and if you decide you do any modding to the 99 make sure its really well thought out and dont cheap out.
