Default New Member Introduction - 1999 SC400

Hello, I'm Stingray 1 and live in Houston. TX. I've never posted anyting or replied to any threads, so this is new to me. However, this site was very helpful when researching a custom exhaust and putting in new stereo speakers. I have a 1999 Lexus SC400, 149,000 miles, custom Magaflow high-flow exhaust, Tokico shocks, custom 18" light-weight wheels, and K&N air filter. It's been a great car and I've kept very good car of it. I bought it back in 1999 with only 5,000 miles on it. However, I need to sell this car because it's not longer practical for a family of 4 and 2 Doberman Pinschers. What is the best way to sell this car? Texas Auto direct? Carmax?

I have never sold an SC but from what I've seen I would recommend craigslist, autotrader. Ebay works good for exceptionally clean low miles one it seems any SC with over 120k on ebay sells for a discount unless it's minty clean especially the interior. Being a 99 is a big plus since there were very few made and they have numerous upgrades including the woodgrain gated shifter and more HP. Anyways good luck with your sell

Throw it in the classifieds here. There's a lot of CL members in Texas.

Let's see some pics! Also a full maintenance history goes a long way. Here, Craigslist, Auto Trader, Ebay....

I'm new to the forum...I am looking to buy an SC 400 or GS 400(whichever presents the better deal) I need opinions from owners on here. Looking at a 93 SC 400 with new paint, excellent body, new interior, lowered, 19" wheels/tires, alarm, rx300 steering wheel swap, and stereo for about $5900. It seemed high for me at first, but then I looked at what he's done and it was close to what I would have done. i'm thinking I may spend more getting a "naked car" and doing what he has done...You guys tell me.

How many miles. Unless he's less than 90k miles that's still too much for that. If he'll go to $5k or less thats a fair price. If it's more than 200k miles, you can definitely talk him down even lower than $5k... maybe down to $4k

Thanks for the reply...I have not confirmed the 130k on it. I have also looked at a member here selling a white 1995 sc 400 with flawless black interior, 113k, lowered with coilovers with nice wheels. 6.5k. I'm also waiting to check out a 1998 sc 400 with 100k or less on it, It's plain(bone stock) but more hp and a good fresh start . What do you think?

I would definitely go for the 98 depending on what he wants for it. I've had a '95 and now on my second '99 and they're 10 times the car of the older ones. They're more refined and the 5spd transmission is a big upgrade from the 95's sluggish 4spd.
