SC300 Heater Air Flow Display Fogged
I recently purchased a 1995 SC300 from a seller in Los Angeles. When I picked up the car, on a warm and sunny Los Angeles day, the heater air flow display was perfectly clear and legible. But where I live, in cooler and wetter Seattle, the display has become largely obscured by a black fog, for lack of a better description. I can't see from the display whether I have the system in the "heat my feet" or "heat my face" or "defog the windshield" mode. Question for the Experts: Is there a quick and easy way to correct this problem, short of dissembling and replacing the display? Thanks! Jim in Seattle.

The lcd screens tend to bleed over time and there's no fix aside from soldering in a new one. The blackening tends to be more-heavily brought on by cold weather for many people, but in my case, it's always black. There are several vendors on ebay who sell replacement screens, and who also do the repairs.

Reading the thread you suggested, it sounds as though the problem is burned out bulbs rather than screen failure. And the fix is replacing the bulbs, not the screen.
Am I reading that right? or no?

I posted that link just because it gives some background on both the screen and the lighting of the climate control. The screen bleeding is solely a problem with the screen and the bulbs only provide the background lighting so you'll need to replace the screen.
