Default 92 sc400 starter DIY - suggestions, hints, extras

I will be beginning the starter replacement process myself here soon. i have probably read every thread on diagnosing the problem. seems like there is a lot of differing opinions but all i'm asking for help on is: CAN anyone tell me what else would be worthwhile to replace or clean etc while i'm taking all the parts off to get to the starter? Also, anyone have suggestions or tips for the process? i'm a newby to working on cars so this will definitely be a major project, still CANT believe what ill have to do to just to replace the starter.

battery is good, terminals good, alternator good, starter relay fuse thing good. so i drove the vehicle about 80 highway miles, pulled in my driveway which has a slight uphill slant. the next morning, i turn the key, all it does is one click. tried jumping it, nothing. pushed the vehicle into my garage where it is a flat floor, tried, still one click. The more that i have tried it, it begins to do rapid fire clicks.

cars been running perfect quite honestly, only thing i did notice since i bought it is that whenever i start the vehicle it takes like 2-3 seconds (extended time) to start it. kind of sounds ****y when starting it up. however, seems also that when the car is warm, it is a much quicker and smoother start

ok i thought it may be the ECU if you have a friend with a sc400 i would try that real quick anyway before tackling the starter but a few things i would do while in there is clean the injectors and get injector gromets dont do the job without gromets also i would replace the knock sensor wire they get very brittle and also the intake manifold gasket of course and clean the throttle body thats all i can think of right now
