popularity of e85 in the states

that's what I thought when I read the guys comment about the haltech...
he clearly didn't read the original question about whether or not to lower the compression.
well I guess ill start looking for a divided manifold.
have you ever seen the sound performance supra with a qsv and a cast mani?
That thing is boss.
so im probably gonna leave the compression alone. (still deciding on the cast vs tubular manifold though)
I know this is going to be a dumb question, but if I do leave the compression alone, and I can only get pump gas (which is 93) what would be a safe boost level? Or would it depend on the tuner?

is it that only supras that would benefit from a cast manifold and a QSV because they have lower compression? is that why it is not needed to run a qsv?
I keep seeing supra turbo kits that have a cast mani and a QSV and they are seeing boost at around 3300.
I might switch to a precision turbo then. I know you give up some reliability, but they do spool faster (im talking about the DBB ones) and make more up top (at least the dyno graphs ive seen shown that)

actually I have a question.
what would it be like if I dropped to a 9.4 instead of 10.1 compression ratio.
If I did my math right (which is quite possible I didn't) if I use gte pistons with stock NA head gasket, that would give me that ratio.
What would the response be on that compared to 10?
Would that allow me to run high boost on pump and not only e85?

I finally made it out to accelerated performance (which happens just to be 10 minutes away from where I live and I have no idea how I have never notice that place)
And just wow. they knowledge those guys have, its incredible!

try not to overcomplicate the gas and compression thing.
boost level on pump gas is going to depend on the setup tuner and how far you want to push it before something gives. if you are going to run more than 400 or so consistently on pump gas lower the compression with the tt headgasket, and you will still make good power on e85 if you want to run that.
Only time you don't touch the compression is if you are always running e85, or are willing to run lower hp levels when on pump gas.
most of us don't push the limits on pump gas all the time, with pump it is better factor in some extra headroom.
The gte gasket does the job just fine. if you can't decide then just do that with arp headstuds and enjoy the flexibility.

V2 does flex fuel now with the new firmware , so it doesn't matter you **** in your tank and drive!! you can run 87 oct if you want , ecu will do everything for you.
If you are not gonna do flex fuel do not tune on E85 and dd the car because it's a pita, too expensive been there and done that.
if you just wanna be on pump just do pump , get a tt hg and arp studs.
it's toomuch hassle trying to drain the tank and change the tune , if you load the wrong tune you running pump gas and load the e85 tune you are done.
pump gas tt hg you can squeeze 580-600 out of it, depending on your supporting mods and turbo .

I figured I would set it up for flex fuel (that's what dom suggested)
it will not be a dd, its gonna be my weekend warrior/country cruiser
and I would live with less hp on pump.
the pros of high compression + e85 outweigh lower compression + pump or even lower compression +e85

If you have e85 I wouldn't worry about running pure 93 oct. With 66% ethanol you can make 1000whp so you are good to go.
It's not a daily then don't even worry about hg crap..lowering cr and stuff use that money elsewhere!
