Default Calling T88 users

Hi all,
i've finally managed to put my kit on.... its a greddy T88h-gk turbo on a T4 divided greddy manifold with turbonetics RG45 WG running on 750cc injectors tuned on Haltech P1000. downpipe is 3.5" with dual exhaust. with HKS SSQV 4 BOV.
I made 421rwhp @1bar boost and car runs very well. Only problem which i have (and i want to understand more from users here) that my turbo doesnt even spool in 1st gear; so no boost in 1st gear and 2nd/3rd it spools and give 1bar boost.

is this normal with t88?

The GK is known to be one of the worst turbos when it comes to lag. I would sell it and go with a T88-34d if anything. I did a VVT-i 2J swap in an SC400 recently with the 34d, and the thing comes into boost so fast its ridiculous. Now I know the VVT-i helps that a bit, but the GK is not good for boost response on the low end.

Its a 2jzgte (non-vvti) stock engine in a sc400 with greddy T88-GK on greddy twinscroll manifold with RG45 WG, 750cc injectors on top mount tommie fuel rail, FPR, GTR FMIC, SSQV4 bov, 6puck sprung clutch kit, HKS intake, individual coils, supra rear running on Haltech P1000, ls400 front brakes/discs, hks suspension, LSD rear, 3.5" downpipe and 2.5" twin blitz exhaust. Made 412rwhp on 1bar boost.

I know t88 is not even in efficency range till now but I'm just waiting for my aeromotive 340lph and twin plate and then i will pump up boost to 1.6bar.

I got it for a very good price thus couldnt resist

@turbodreamz
what RPM 34d spooled?

I'm pretty sure that a monster turbo for so little boost. So what your experiencing seems correct. Most people running 1 bar has a t67 or something close.

now i'm changing my injectors to 1000ID and trust spec-R intercooler then 1.5bar boost

i dont see anything in there about cams.. stock cams will never spool that turbo.. you went big with the turbo go big with cams too.. 1st is pretty useless in a "supra" usually its from a roll. you know you sacrificed any kind of low rpm and low speed power by going with a massive turbo.. go 272 or 280 cams with ti springs and retainers and you should see improvement.. also those injectors are too small.. way too small.. 1 bar is not efficient on that turbo.. if your power goal isnt that high then get a smaller turbo but you still need better cams.. 264 cams at least..

Yeah I was thinking even 1.6 bar is low for that turbo. You may want to swap out to a more efficient turbo for your power range.

Why wouldn't stock cam spool that turbo? t88 is 70mm turbo comparable to the S372 BW and GT4294.

Why is the ID1000 way too small?

The OP is in Dubai, they don't have Ethanol over there the run race gas or regular pump gas , on C16 he will make 1000hp depending on what Pumps he is running.

ID1000 are perfect in my Opinion.
