Default Need me some LSD. but which one?

My next thing to do is to install LSD on my SC400. Here are my questions

What are my options?
What price range am I looking at?
I've heard of something called posi-trax(or something like that) any input on this one?

any suggestions would be awesome.

VSsc400,

I would think that the Supra is the best fit, but your speedo changes a bit depending on which one you find.

thank you for the info. I've read the posts and did a search before posting, and found out that its either supra TT LSD or Torsen(not sure though). So I will rephrase the questions

Does anyone know for sure that any Torsen LSD will drop-in on a SC400? What gear ratios are available? (could not find it on the web)

I think Overclocker had a difficult time installing one on his SC400 and I don't want that happening to my car. What is actually involved in installing a Supra TT LSD?

If torsen and supra (97-99 Supra Turbo w/AT) LSD's installation are both pretty much the same I would go with the supra LSD. So if I can get some input on this it would be much appreciated.

Where would be the best place to source these LSD's (besides Steve Ganz(thats a given))?

as a side note. I just called Lexus of America Headquarters and found out that Lexus never ever put LSD on any of their GS, LS, ES, or the SC models sold in US.

Called Posi-trax. they only make it for LX450

You are losing me now. The Supra LSD = Torsen. The Supra LSD bolts directly into the car. Not much chance any other will be as easy.

Best of Luck

Default Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt

It’s true, I had trouble with my install although most have not. I bought what I thought was an automatic Supra TT’s LSD from a ClubLexus member who bought it from Steve Ganz last year during a blowout sale. I did the install at home with the help of my dad, my first piece of advice is to work on it with a car lift and a transmission jack. It’s a pain in the *** to try and move the differential when you’re on your back. I’m going to be finishing the install this spring at Sound Performance in Chicago and would like to do a write up on it. At that time I’m getting my torque converter installed too!

My big problem was with the differential’s 3 point connecting flange that joins it to the drive shaft. I assumed it was the same size and wasn’t! I think you'll want one that has the 3.76 gearing, but make sure the flanges are the same size.

Jeff, how much? And since LSD was an option on automatic Supra's, I assume it has it? I'd rather go with the 6spd diff and axles for the larger ring and pinion, any leads on one, or you just have the auto diff?

I'm asking $400 Plus s/h (due to size i can only ship it by freight company). This is the whole pumpkin, diff, ring/pinon, axles, etc..

I see the 6spd diffs every so often on Supraforums but seem like its getting harder and harder to locate them. Right now all I have is the auto diff.

Jeff

PCMW:
that clears things up a bit. I did not know supra lsd=torsen.

TurboB6:
Can you confirm that the LSD you're selling it will positively work on 92SC400

Anyone:
So if I was to install a 4.27 ratio LSD I would accelerate faster(than stock) and my speedo would be faster than the actual speed?
and
If I was to install a 3.133 ratio LSD I would accelerate slower (than stock) and my speedo would be slower than the actual speed?

and needless to say, this means we have no choice but to go with supra LSD for us.

thank you for the input.

$400, is that for new in box? I paid more than that and thought I got a deal.

PS, I think mine weighed 104 lbs but UPS was able to deliver it.

VSsc400: I dunno how Id confirm that it would work since I don't have a sc400.

Overclocker: I guess I didn't make my wording clear. $400 is for a complete USED rear end. If I were to sell a new in the box pumpkin (diff, diff housing, axles, ring/pinion) Id be asking alot more. UPS might be an option then if someone is interested.
