so the resistor i guess overheated and burnt??? don't know why, was at a delivery and put my hazards on and they didn't come on. took the flasher out and opened it up to a nice smoke show and some melted smelly plastic. here's what it looks like. put the shunt back in and the flasher still works so no harm done. i can't find the 0.03 resistor, the lowest i found was .05. i wanna use exactly what you used because i'm tired of soldering this piece over and over again.

Wow, how long did you have the flashers/hazards on? I haven't had this issue, but that isn't good news.
I have a 0.036Ohm resistor but that is because that is what I needed to just stop the lights from hyperflashing. The amount you'll need will depend on the LEDs that you used. It'll likely be around 0.036Ohms though.

i will eventually have all LEDs replaced. currently it's just the rear, but when it gets warmer i'll also put the front in. do you have LEDs all around? the hazards were not on at all, i tried putting them on and that fried the flasher. i can't find the resistor with .036 ohms tho. i only found a .05. do you think that will make a difference?

I do have LEDs all around. That may be why that didn't work correctly... And .05 should work as well, but it shouldn't matter as long as all the indicators are LEDs.

ok so i swapped the front LEDs, soldered back the 10 ohm resistor which was still fine, and voila, we have success. now just an endurance test on saturday when i work will confirm if this indeed will last. thanks for all the help guys.

So I'm confused oldmantan, you went from a .05 ohm resister to a 10 ohm resister and the 10 ohm worked ? Can you share where you got this ? Does polarity matter when you soldered the resistor to the flasher ?
Congrats on making this work and thanks!

no i never ordered the .05, i just used my 10 ohm that i had which didnt work last time because i didnt have LEDs in the front lights. this will work probably with any high wattage resistor as long as you have LEDs all around. and no resistors don't have a direction, it's just like a wire it doesn't matter which way it's facing.

the resistor i have is 30 watts, bhango probably has the same im guessing. LEDs, depending on how many are on each bulb, use probably like 4-6 watts i'm guessing? so having 4 LEDs that flash, a 30 watt resistor is plenty.
good news, the flasher withstood a work day. going to the junk yard tmr, gonna scavenge an sc4 i found, grab the flasher just in case and maybe some other stuff.
