Hatchy400, those look pretty good! I think we all need to consider the main point here, and that is how important it is that we make ourselves more visible to oncoming traffic. If our creative LED daytime running lights keep just one inattentive driver from turning left or pulling out in front of us, then it's all good in the hood. Whether a setup looks good on a certain vehicle is solely a matter of personal opinion. I feel that unless your personal opinion is constructive or complimentary, it's probably just best kept to yourself. Just my 2 cents. BTW, I've attached a pic of my LED DRLs. I turn them on and off remotely with a fob attached to my key ring.

To the OP, I totally respect your fabricating ability. Cool work. Personally, I don't think the SC400 can have led strips of any kind without looking out of place. The SC400 styling is classic but you can tell it's from a different period when there was no led strip lighting.

This morning on my way to work, I counted at least 6 stock cars that had led strip lighting in parallel to chrome trim or at slight angles to existing chrome trim. I also saw cars that had the led as part of a chrome strip but that wasn't even most of the cases.

Even the SC430 2002 to 2005 does't have any good spots for led strips without looking out of place. In my opinion the 2006 can handle it with the facia lift it had mid model. It's all opinion of course. I'm very picky about doing visual mods with the exception of wheels and exhaust, I've never modified the stock appearance of a vehicle. In this case, it was purely a safety upgrade.

Thanks for putting these on my car honey. After that nastyfreeway crash over the weekend, glad you have my safety in mind! That is the only reason people should modify! I too generally hate modifications, especially like fins that make cars look ridiculous. I may know nothing about whats under the hood, but I love my ride and the look of my SC430. I was skeptical about the LED lights with their yellowish strip and thought I would have to choose safety over looks in our area of hazardous fog in winter. SOOO glad the LEDs you put on front of my car do not challenge it's good looks and may help keep me safe!!! Love you!!! ( and I hope Jackie and Michael Love would approve!) -Wife

PS, you left this page open on the computer. Now I see what you have been up to! Couldn't help adding my two cents, even though I tend to denigrate people who waste their time on forums. You know, that whole 'Master of the Universe, Mine is Bigger than Yours', thing I generally scoff at! TeeHee.

Hatchy, maybe a couple of options available might generate some interest. As for me, I'd be willing to invest in some 97+ fogs for the opportunity to increase visibility.

And I admire your initiative. Way to keep these cars alive!

I can do just about anything you want! I can do them around the whole perimeter of the fog light, around the lower edge/upper edge, I can do them in any colour, I can do them brighter/dimmer.

The LED lumen output for the ones I used where 110L(each), I have LED strips that go up to 250L(each) and thats just for my design.

If you wanted round ones for your 97+ fogs I can go as high as 1400L(each).

A standard 35W HID's output is around 2200L

Doesn't look too bad. Almost looks like that strip in the fog lamp is meant for LED strip. It just seems too bright for an LED strip, other than that,

It's Actually Dimmer Then The Stick On Kind That Most People Get, Those Tend To Run About 180 Lumens.
If You Look At The Ones Posted They Took The Pic Around Mid-Afternoon, I Took Mine In The Evening When It Was Raining. I Can Post Some Pics Of It During The Day To Show You.

This however isint all that bad. In for better pics.
I have to agree.
LED strips belong elsewhere, not in the front of your car. I hate it when people put them under the headlights to make it look like an audi or something, but ends up making it like doodoo.

I would never have guessed for an instant that StillLine's RX led strips weren't stock. They look exactly like what I see on other new Lexus models that have the strips in the same location. If it had been an older model with a headlight and front design obviously before the LED strip timeframe then I would buy that argument.

My point is it all depends on the car and the design. You can't just make a blanket statement that it looks bad on all cars.

It would look out of place on my SC400, so I won't do it there. There's just no good place for it. Take it case by case.

Oh and yes, that really was my wife deciding to leave hack my account...except I was already logged in. I did the strips because I asked her to stop always driving with the headlights on during the day to save the bulbs. She made the argument that it was safer which is right.

The LEDs are so bright, however(despite their only taking 5 watts each side) that I need to change it so they turn off when the headlight are on.

Hatchy, I'll PM you offline. What are you thinking is a decent estimate?

These look promising, folks. Since DSM has been smacked by snow recently, I'll take every bit of extra illumination possible.

Hatchy, what do you think would be a reasonable value to keep from over stressing the electrics? I'm running everything stock, only extra gadget is an ESCORT 8500 wired through the ciggy lighter.

Deep Thoughts, anyone? Bueller?

PMed you about cost.
Nothing I use pull more then 3 watts which will work without any issues on a stock system.
Another point to put out there they don't Have to be just DRL's if done in amber and wired to the turn signal they could make for a nice additional turn signal.
