Grounding issues are an absolute pain in the ***. Something so simple can make everything complicated. I wasted weeks and money on my old Corolla because of a loose ground on the transmission.
I picked up a 95 Sc a month ago and in week 1 I had these above issues. First it was battery light then alternator and before you know it, I thought I picked up a lemon. I fixed it by throwing money at it but who is to say I do not have a grounding issue. Someone said the ground wire is close to the oil filter and I am now wondering if oil changes or oil splashing on these wires do not corrode them or lead to these issues. I also suspect this for alternators since I believe the alternator is somewhere below where oil change from drain bolt or from filter removal could get on it shorting or corroding wires? Mo SCs, mo problems. gents, your thots ensue..
Many alternators die because of the oil leaking onto it from the distributor (bad oil o-ring).
