i just noticed this smell last night.................. weird. floored it from 60-100 about and when i let off, i noticed that odd burning smell. i dont think its the cats...... i could be wrong.

is there a chance you are all pushing oil past the rings at high rpm and getting a little blowback from it ?

I experienced it with my bmw 325is i had and after the rebuild (at a later date) i didnt smell it anymore. The mechanic said it was pushing past the valves into the cylinders just a TINY bit and i was getting the burning smell.

ever thought that's the smell of your clutch? when you floor it your burning the clutch up... i dunno just a guess.

count me in too!! i know the smell your talking about. i'm pretty sure it's not motor oil because it dosent smell like burnt oil. it also dosent smell like your typical cat (rottten egg) smell. to me it smells more like some kind of fluid is burning, maybe atf or something in the trans is slipping, i dont know but when i smell it i get alittle worried if had to guess i think it has something to do with the trans but i would love to know for sure!!!
