What kind of effects does 110 octane have on the SC? My tank is on empty and I'm thinking about adding like a gallon. The speedway around here is offering it so I wanna try it out. I'm not thinking about going a track or anything. I would probably just drive it a lil hard for a while and fill up with 93 again.

as far as your car? Probably absolutely nothing. The octane is a rating on how well gas can absorb energy before igniting. Mostly it's used to be able to run higher boost on a forced induction car. If your car is stock, i don't believe it will change ANYTHING. It might clean up your exhaust a little thou.

If your car is stock, all it will do is give your exhaust a sweet cherry-like smell to it. You could bump your timing a bit, but unless you have NOS or turbo, you won't really feel anything.

I disagree, it will most likely not clean up your exhaust. As far as performance, it'll do absolutely squat unless your car pings with premium gas. But since it is a lot slower burning fuel, you'll probably have unburnt fuel exhausted into the cats and stagnate there until you stop using the high octane race fuel.

good choice alot of the 110+ gasolines are leaded and you DONT wana run leaded fuel in your car

100 octane or 106 octane can be found unleaded- it causes the car to run hotter which does help on the sniffer test when it comes time to emissions!

Most defintely true about emissions test! I know Citgo racing fuel is 110 and unleaded, but at $4 a gallon, you gotta make sure you use it for a good reason.

it may be a bit faster but only IF the ECU advances the timing...

a lot of cars do this; they sense the higher octane and throw in more timing... my friend's WRX gained about 2mph from running the same boost but just adding a couple gallons of 106 octane

also the way a lot of big power supras pass emissions... run 106 octane straight and lean the fuel out

Just adding to what carnal said: Make sure it isn't leaded if you end up getting some, or you will be replacing O2 sensors and your catalytic converters. The lead from the gas screws those up and will end up giving you poor gas mileage.

The only thing octane does is prevent pre-mature detonation - or "knocking"... so if you're car isn't knocking already, then its probably not going to do anything.

However, excessive octane in your fuel will most likely lower your gas milage.

i tried some 104 octane booster once, and it actually made my engine run slightly smoother (and it has ever since, with or without the booster in my tank) mainly because it had some extra cleaner-type shtuff in it that i guess my drivetrain liked. i dunno if the 110 octane gas has any cleaners in it or not. as far as performance, the gain was was null.

Compression is too high for low octane and you will get pinging as if the timing is goofed or having bad gas. Not a good idea. IMO
But I am curious. Has anyone has tried this?

it sounds like it is more of a headache than good, stick the 93

I would guess you wouldn't get pinging, just less power - the knock sensors would retard the timing to keep the engine from knocking.
