Only one that I know of, installed in London Bill's car I believe. It's a plain black deck with analog dials and a matching amber display. Maybe you can find a picture of it with a search. Hopefully the model hasn't been discontinued since, I know it's over a year old (shelf life for stereos is 6 months stateside).

Your best bet is to go with a more conservative unit, but the main issue will be how it is mounted. If you flush mount it with a nice trim piece then it will look a lot less intrusive.

Offhand I know most of the higher line Alpine units are a brownish gray color, which is a good match to the interior. Kenwood stuff is mostly gloss black which won't work, not sure about Pioneer but I think some of theirs is brownish as well.

i'm wondering the same thing - which aftermarket headunit looks decent...

seems like everything of late is SILVER - the bling bling space era type.

also. whats the degree of difficulty for installing a headunit yourself. is it easier or harder than say installing an amp or sub?

It's not too much harder, although it would require a LOT more ingenuity and a whole lot of detail work to get it right and to make it look nice.

The problem with most of the head units nowdays too is that the faces either come off or motorize around with nonsense ballet, making a trim piece that much more difficult to make and still look nice...

Try the Becker Mexico Pro, very high spec, excellent player, looks well cool.

Pity my A/C display is green and not amber like the US version.

Has anyone got an amber A/C unit for sale? or failing that give me a chassis No for the car and I will try to order one from Lexus UK.

London Bill,

I believe the display color and the button backlights are controlled by the little plastic bulb coverings. Mine are white giving the amber color. I believe it changed with model year. You could do a search for more info. So rather then buying the whole unit, you could change the color yourself.

I did look into that Chris but I dont get time to eat let alone play with my car, under my bed I have a GTR intercooler & custom pipework, Apexi S-AFC, 440cc injectors, twin blow-off valves and a new MAP sensor still waiting to be fitted.

Thats a good choice, Nak is excellent kit and it looks more sympathetic to it's surroundings than pioneer/kenwood/clarion/sony.

It looks a bit "shiny" black though, the Becker has the same black finish as the original unit (about 98% match).

Try the Becker Mexico Pro,

I'm not familiar with Becker electronics here in minnesota, but the name "mexico" and the look are much like the Blaupunkt stereos we have here. does anyone know if they are divisions of the same company?

Far as I know Becker is part of the Harman Kardon group, I dont think there is a connection with Blaupunkt other than both being of German origin.
