Default Anyone ever repair their door lock actuator?

I have a 98 SC300, when I use my remote to lock\unlock , only the passenger door locks and unlocks. Theres no response from the drivers side. The door lock actuator from the dealer and even online are quite expensive and I hear you can fix these by buying the small electric mabuchi motors and switching them out with the old one. There are many videos on youtube of people fixing this problem for various models cars. Ive searched throughout the forum\online and cant find anyone repairing these for the SC300.

Im just wondering, has anyone repaired their door lock actuator? If so how hard was it to do and how long did it take? Its my only car so I cant risk having it out for too long.

Having just replaced my driver's door lock sensor, I don't envy you guys having to get at the actuator! I assume the answer has something to do with structural integrity, but why oh why did Lexus not add an access panel in that area? I was eventually able to get to the lock cylinder with everything in place, but I imagine you'll need to disassemble the window rails for the actuator.

I changed both sides last month before it got to hot in jersey pretty easy though actually.

Remove door panel
Remove bottom bolt from window track
Remove 3 or 4 bolts from the actuator

And do some wiggling and boom it's outta there

I'll find the thread that helped

i really need to do mine as well. both my doors the locks just wiggle and don't lock all the way, it used to be just the passenger side that didn't work, but after a few presses the driver side gave out as well.

On youtube there is a great video of a guy fixing the door lock actuators on his GS.

You buy the $6 mabuchi motors on ebay and take out the actuator thats not working and replace the old motor with the new one.

You might have to crack open the case thats holds the motor and super glue it back together I dont know if it is screwed together, thats what I want to know since its my only car. But It beats spending close to $250 for a new one or $95 for the used ones I see on ebay.
