Default car won't start, didn't have time to search

Ok....so there I was...nice warm day...then a new snow fall. Basically there was maybe a half inch of fresh snow over ice, I was taking a 55 degree right hand turn (at about 23 mph), my car spun around and my driver side door hit a pole then my *** end hit the curb leaving my car set facing the right way in the street after it stopped, only it died and will not run.... given my drivers door has a nice dent and my mirror is gone, but why won't it start. I'm thinking that because of the EFI, when my car hit the pole it set of a sensor to shut down my car, leaving fuel in the combustion chamber causing it to flood...I gave it a half hour and it still won't start. I'm running a Jacob's electronics ignition w/NGK plugs, this shouldn't have anything to do with it, right? I checked all of the connections and they're still intact. So I guess i'll wait for morning (now 1am central) and try starting it again in hopes that it just got flooded. i'm lost...help me now, and thank god I have full coverage.

Question Sorry to hear of your trouble...

That sucks, dude. Have you tried disconnecting the battery completely (negative side is safest), allowing it to remain unpowered for several minutes, then reconnecting? If it is a sensor, this will force all systems to go through a reset and self check.

Worth a try in my opinion.

Good Luck

An impact on your drivers side could have taken out the fuel pump ECU inside the rear quarter panel, try the fuel ECU diag test. SoarerTT You will find details in Electrical.

The impact could have dislodged the crank sensor?
Any errors on the engine diagnostics?

most vehicles have as fuel cutoff switch you should just be able to press and it restore fuel flow. majority of cars have them to keep gas from feeding to the engine incase you are knocked unconcious.

now where that may be located on an sc.....well........

I'll check for error codes and blow fuses for the EFI. I have no Idea where the fuel cut off switch would be for our cars, I imagine its done by the computer and probably needs reset. THanks for the help guys, I appreciate it.

Were you wearing a seat belt? I'm not positive about our sc's, but some seat belts have a small cap like that in a toy cap gun that blows out on impact to retract the belt. It's possible that was the smell. If so, the seat belt unit needs to be replaced for it to be effective again.

yeah I had my seatbelt on...and it did smell like a cap gun. so what exactly does this do then??? I know the seat belts lock when they're pulled quickly, but something blowing up in there??? strange.

Seat belt pre-tensioner - a small charge is used to take slack out of the seat belt on impact, prior to the belt arresting the occupants motion, stops the snapping action that happens if you fly forward on impact when the belt is loose fitting.

Damn voeltz,
I'm really sorry to hear about that. It's hard to say exactly what the problem is now. Try all the previous recommendations. Don't forget about the starter itself. But it is all speculation. Is the damage extensive? Will you keep it? I hope all works out for the best.

what are the chances of you getting a few shots of the damage so we get a better idea of the impact and what it could have affected?

well I just went back to where it's parked and tried to start it...I disconnected the battery for about a minute or two, I check the EFI fuse, etc...I turned on the ignition and I can hear the fuel pump working. I looked at the damage, not too bad, will need a new door skin. I pulled a little chuck of wood out of it from the telephone pole, and it also pushed in the door panel on the inside, i'll probably need a new one of those too. I'll try to take some pics today...

oh yeah, AWJ, the car turns over fine...everything sounds really good. I'm going to bypass the aftermarket ignition and see if that helps. Its failed me before, maybe thats all it is again.

OK i got my car started, I just bypassed the Jacob's ignition... ALl i have to say is never ever buy a Jacob's Electronics ignition system. It's been nothing but troubles. And they're way overpriced for the little amounts of performance they give. But I do have my camera now and i'll takes pics and post them tomorrow. thanks for the help again guys!
