Just filled up today, $1.88 for 92 at Costco

I keep an auto log in my Palm since I use the car for work. The last tank was almost all freeway.

22.8mpg. Not bad for 107K on the original spark plugs.

Gonna change 'em soon, it will be interesting to see if anything changes.

daizen, unhooking the battery does the same thing as pulling the fuse, but you don't lose seat and radio memory if you just pull the fuse.

if im not mistaken you can achieve the same thing by unhooking your battery overnight....unless someone wants to chime in and say otherwise....

...okay I did a search and it seems like a lot of people are getting the same results as me.. but a lot are also getting better.. any ideas?
I get about the same gas milage for my 92sc400. Try doing a tune-up and inflate your tire to a higher psi if you want to sacrifice comfort for gas milage. I prefer comfort over gas milage so my tires are at 30-32psi.

Angry I put in gas almost every day!

I dont know what to do HELP ME. This is my story. I have a 93 SC300 with 63,000 miles, I got it tuned up less then a year ago. I get 230 miles per tank full. This is what i noticed. When I put in $5 from empty I get 25 miles, when i put in $10 from empty I get 50 miles, when I put in $20 i get 100 miles, and a full than which is $35-$40 I get 230 miles. But I hardly fill up the whole tank. When I gets to empty I put in $10 and the next day it is empty so I put in $10 again. My car was tuned-up with genuine lexus parts. And i have tried removing the EFI, ECU-B, ECU, fuses, and disconnecting the battery. I even payed the Lexus dealer $44 to reset the factory settings(bunch of BS) But I had to try something. Im thinking of getting rid of the car because of the fuel economy, but at the back of my head i know that there is something wrong. I raced my friends 2003 Lincoln Navigator and he won. I am very disappointed. I also noticed my car gets faster when the tank is almost at empty. Please give me some ideas. Email me: krazyaper4u@yahoo.com

Stop racing!!!! And get the lead out of your foot, It's a heavy car and of course it's going to suck up gas.
Besides your racing against a SUV w/ a 5.4 DOHC 300hp V8 engine!! :There is nothing to be disappointed about. Try racing against the Hondas for your better ego!

Take a hint from aircraft guys. They do a complete wax job to increase efficiancy. Maintain that car! Dont skimp on parts. Get the brakes checked to make sure nothing is dragging.

I agree... something is terribly wrong if your getting 200-260 mpg like two guys here have mentioned. My SC400 gets close to 400 miles a tank... and its a V8 by comparison.

Default 190 miles on a tank

I just bought my first SC ('92 SC400, 96K miles) and I've finally had a chance to calculate gas mileage after 2 tanks of gas. Bottom line: not good. I get about 190 miles on a full tank before the light comes on, which works out to just under 10mpg. Obviously, this isn't good.

I just dropped the car off at the local Lexus dealer for a full service since I just bought it (replacing ALL fluids and filters, checking everything over-- I do this whenever I buy a used car) and I'll pull the ECU fuse tonight and report back.

The car does run extremely well (I can't even hear the engine unless I gun it) but does seem slower than other SC400s I've driven. (Yes, I'm aware of the various horsepower bumps throughout the model years.)I'm sure it just needs a little TLC.

Wow.... 10 miles per gallon. It's like driving a garbage truck, but more comfortable. Frankly, though... I love the car enough that I'll hang on to it even if the mileage doesn't improve.

DaizenLex was your car always like that? Was it like that when you bought it or did it get worse?

That is the mileage you will get if your AFM stops working properly. I know since I play around with my car alot. I would pull the connector for the AFM and turn on the car. Does the check engine light go on? If not then someone may have removed the light from the dash or its out. In the case that someone may have used a fuel computer before you owned it you might want to check the ECU wiring. Loose connections or wrong connections for the AFM will cause this horrible mileage.

Also does your car sputter black fuel and chunks out the end?
