Default I just don't know what to do.......

So I'm thinking about going 5 speed swap on my SC400 but I don't know if I should just do the w58 swap or do a 1jz swap. All I know is that I really don't like driving a auto it's killing me lol. And I do really like boost so yeah just wanted to get some other people opinion about it

Save up more, do both at the same time. I was going to swap my 400 and I instead just purchased a 5 speed 300 for the same price as the swap was going to be.

What is your car used for? If it's your daily and only car, I'd go 5spd on the v8 if it's In good shape and go from there. If not, throw a bunch of money at it and go jz.

i'll be honest after i swapped my 400 to a manual i disliked the power it had or lack thereof. torque was perfect as a daily but v8 sound but no bite was leaving more to be desired. and any after market for the 1uz is money not well spent compared to other v8s and the jz motors

go 1jz if its a toss up between the two.

Do the 5spd UZ Alot less common. But since you love boost Im sure your leaning towards the 1j. Either one is good.

^^ This. Depends on what you want. Both are sound choices for a daily driver-- even a stock or BPU 1JZ swap.

Its the old debate really.

For me it's V8 all the way, the linear power delivery and sound can't be beat. Unless you want a go fast rocket, go for the 1JZ, easier to get power from too.

I'm in the exact same boat man. It comes to what they have mentioned. What are your ultimate plans for the car?

If it's a daily, I would recommend swapping in the manual, BFI, full exhaust and just enjoy a different, fun and reliable 14 second car. Then you can just work on the aesthetics and be a really clean interior, better speakers, stance etc etc.. There is'nt much more power to be had in the 1UZ unless you take a step beyond to ITB, or Nitrous..

If it's more of a weekend warrior then by all means, swap the 1J and you'll be forced to get a FMIC and Exhaust to even get it running. That alone would already be faster. Keep in mind this option, if you don't swap the motor yourself, will absolutely cost you more than just a manual swap on the 1UZ.

Yeah I'm leaning towards the 1jz clip. That would give me everything I would need almost to swap the 5speed and have the 1jz and if I wanted to swap to right hand drive also... Right now its MY only car "wife has a different one" but the beginning of next year we will have 3 cars.
