Default Driving with the tranny in power mode?

Does anyone else do this all the time? I was told by a guy (not a buddy) that this wasnt good for my SC.
Anyone have problems or know anything about this?

Thanks, Guys

I use it when I get on the freeway, have to "race" someone, or just feel like having fun. I'm almost positive it isnt bad for the car. Why would Lexus put a button on the car that's bad for it. It only changes the shift points, and make aggressive shifting, so it burns more gas. I can't see any more harm than that, unless you have a bad tranny or high mileage.

It doesn't hurt the car. All it does is changes the shifting pattern of the tranny. It allows the RPM to build more, closer to redline before the tranny shifts allowing greater acceleration.

these gas prices are outrageous, dont get me wrong. I have a few vehicles i drive. this one is my favorite.

but on a different note, if i wanted to drive it like a yugo, i'd have bought a yugo.

I'm not a racer, but i do like to travel reasonably fast. I dont merge onto freeways, i outrun.

zoom, zoom

MISINFORMATION!

The KGB specialised in it, the CIA respond in turn and now "some guy" is doing it to SC owners, I know sweet FA about brain surgery or gardening and refrain from passing comment on either for fear of being thought of as a complete w4nker.

In a similar vein, I refuse to accept A.N.Other's comments on automotive engineering unless that person can show real world experience in the subject, there are few on this and other forums who's words I would accept without question.

Conjecture, rumour, hearsay, we see this on the forums every single day, someone gets it in their head (for whatever reason or intention) that the world is flat or V8 SC's have a factory twin turbo option. Being a cynic means I have to question every statement, if you walked in the room soaking wet and told me it was raining outside I would have to look out the window to make sure someone was not pissing on your head.

The Internet has a lot answer for, in the past only the learned few could express an opinion that would disseminate to the masses, today any moron with a keyboard will tell you "how it is", it's your gullibility if you take this as gospel, it's your foolishness if you then repeat it.

An opinion is just that, a fact is indisputable, next time you see "some guy" talking complete drivel about the SC automatic transmission and ECT modes tell him for a fact, he is a PR1CK.

Default No difference for me!

you know whats strange is that i didnt notice a difference when i drove a full tank with out the ECT on....as far as gas mileage...i still was at about 350 when the light comes on...and i filled up at around 380.....but i could have easily got to 400 miles on a full tank of gas...that i very odd...switch off and no difference...!!!

Strongsail;

I would but it normally leads to the post being deleted and/or me getting a warning for being offensive, seems that inciting self harm is also considered to be a personal attack so I have to restrain myself.

Because 2/3rds of all mechanics are full of BS.

Many thanks to LB for once again pushing back the frontiers of ignorance and setting the record straight.

I agree, most mechanics are full of BS, I'm sure he's setting you up for future business. Just drive the car as you please, with any and everything something will break over time. Life is short have fun, power on.
