removing trunk lining and weird 'pull this to open' tag?
im doing the cd changer cushion thing tomorrow, and i wanted to know if anybody could answer a couple of my questions. first, i know i need to remove the trunk lining, but how do i do that? when i remove those big plastic screws does it come right off? or does it have something to do with this tag thats hanging above the cd changer labled 'pull this to open'? if not, what is that thing? thanks in advance

lexus uses pop snaps. just remove the lining by pulling the snaps off with a flathead screwdriver, or better (if you have it) a popper tool which is shaped like a bent fork with two prongs. the lining is nothing more than a thin piece of carpet and removes with the snaps. you will find this to be a simple operation and if you have any direct questions about it, just let me know.

It should come off fairly easy. Make sure you get everu black screw off and take of the lining. It shouldnt really be too hard. That tag has a hole that you can put it through to get the lining off. Just look around for a while and you will able to get the thing off in less than 45min.

get that tool
All the black plastic buttons are sooo easy to pull with a "clip puller" which you can buy for about $5 from a body shop supply store. If you use a regular flat-bladed screwdriver, you will damage about 50% of the buttons getting them out, and scratch stuff up, etc. That cheap tool sure made it easier to get the trunk lining out.
The right side liner is easier to get out if you pull the trunk lip trim (clip tool! 5 clips) and the rear liner first. Also, if the plastic button has a Phillips cross-slot in the center, back out the center with a screwdriver before pulling it with the clip tool. And, if you still have all the larger buttons in the rear liner (they cover some of the nuts for the taillights) don't lose 'em! $5 each at the dealer

i agree with strongsail. if you must use a flatblade, be very careful. even pressure must be used. i have done it before when i didnt have my popper tool, but it isnt the best option. it is an option if nothing else, though. best of luck!

kyle, if you don't find the clip tool at your retail auto parts store, look in the Yellow Pages under "auto body shop equip & supplies" - these places are usually wholesalers, but they will probably sell you the tool over the counter. Have fun
