i also agree that the cap needs to be raised. 8k? im almost at that and i barely started.. ill be double it by summer.

Hmm - I don't want to add it up. But over $50k. Still got another $30k+ in plans for the next couple of years. If life goes well after that, then starting over on the engine with Cowboy Bebops' (on SF) V8 TT engines looks tempting.

About $14k....the bodykit and rims/tires set me back $4k by themselves plus suspension and others

I hope you guys spending this kind of cash on mods are saving as well. I spent a ton on my car and then the car was gone in an instant and I had nothing left to show for it.

For the about $30+k in labor and parts I spent doing and redoing my car at my current more bearish gain rates in investments would have been conservatively worth about $60k in the last 6 years instead of $0 plus the heartache of losing the car. Above all, I always make sure I never buy any mods or toys on credit.

My advice is to have fun but don't go overboard.

I bought mine for:

$1000 for the car
$220 for fenders
$65 for inner/outer tierods
$60 for sc400 springs and struts
$125 for upper control arm and hub
$15 for upper cont arm pin bolt
$100 for cheap knock off body kit
$100 new pass window regulator
$60 for urathane steering rack bushings

$1745 total spent in all, im sure that will more than triple in the months to come.
