I've owned the 92 SC400 since new in Dec 1991. I've done "nothing" except try to keep it in pristine condition. Spent way more than $10,000. Don't even really want to know! But I still have it and have given it to my daughter as I moved into an LS430.

Everytime I touch the dealer its at least 7-800. I have touched them 3 times already. Whatever you do don't go 6 speed. They rape you sideways with parts. Supra 6 speed tax at its finest whether its OEM or aftermarket.
OEM parts- 3k mostly supra 6 speed stuff and motor freshen up
NA-T - 4k
v160 with diff - 5k
Injector and fuel line- 1k
Probably a lot more than I wanna keep track.

Pole Position
14K so far and counting in my '92 SC300. Around $5K plus is general engine repairs, a/c, new raditor, etc. Around $6K in re-paint and body kit, and almost $2K in new head unit, sub woofer, and backup cam.
Have around another $10-12K to go for wheels, suspension, brakes. May try to squeeze in intake and exhaust changes (cat backs) if my wife does not shoot me first.... Yep, these cars are expensive but obviously we all believe it is worth it....

Last I tallied a year ago it was about $12k on top of the car's purchase price. I've spent some more since then on minor fixes, a radiator swap, rear TT brakes and R154 transmission parts. I'd hate to discover my current figure. I haven't spent a dime on an engine swap or turbo parts yet. The seats still need recovering and a paintjob is a big last.
After all this money I could have had a much newer and *faster* car. But I like the SC. Still, once the thing has a rebuilt R154 and rebuilt GTE swap, the money flow for modifications will stop for the most part.
Had I realized how much reconditioning and turbo converting one of these cars would be from the onset I might never have purchased it. But then, I needed a car, I was particular, and all the deals on newer 300hp cars I found at the time had some big negative attached or were *just* *barely* beyond my price range. Maybe I should have financed something but I strongly disliked that idea.
At this point I'm just too fond of it. It brings a smile to my face every time I turn the key. It's become a strong reminder of the car I let go of over a decade ago.

Not too bad for me yet.....
I dropped around 5000$ on the car and put 3-4K into it so far. A good bit of that went into the trunk as opposed to onto the car. i had not had a car in some time, so I had to buy lots of general car stuff all over again (tools, jack, detailing products.).
The 2 sets of wheels was the biggest purchase. Work VS-ZF 18's w' 255/35 285/35 and Sc430 2nd gen wheels with Blizzaks. Double din DVD, alternator, timing belt kit, tune up, trunk struts, 600-800 in stuff from Gazi, HID/LED's.
Now for the tranny swap parts. OUCH!
