Done mine last weekend! Got the shocks (AC Delco Part #510129 w/spoiler) from RockAuto for $17.71
and now it pops open and lifts right up like it should......sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!
On a scale of 5 wrenches, I give it 1 wrench for quick and easy installation, not to mention the cost you save.

dood, my original shok didn't wannna come off so i had to whip out the grinder to cut

what part didnt come out? I did mine took like 20mins

where the strut attaches to the arm of the trunk (ball joint)

if you cut it then how did you get the screw part out of the hole?

cut a slot in socket about 1/2 around with out damaging the ball
if you tug that the structure is weakened and will bend, thus releasing that dammned ball
