Default Adding another SC to the family

I've been looking for another SC to add to the family since i have pretty much given my wife mine. I bought a new truck and she's has been driving the 400 for a few weeks now. Of course i miss my 400, but since the majority of my cars have been black, i want something different. I was looking at the silver spruce (?) color on the SC's but i wasn't sure if anyone had any problems with fading of the bumpers with other colors. The black seems to always stay glossy no matter what. The reason why i ask is because i was surfing an online auction website and found the car below. the seller screams "clean car, awsome, blah blah..." but unless my eyes are playing tricks on me the rear bumper is a different shade. Either he is not being truthful about it being clean, or the paint is fading. I'm curious if anyone has had any tone changes between the non metal bumpers v/s the metal bodies in certain colors. below is the image that made me ask this:

yeah, i expected the red to fade. glad i have confirmation. I didnt think the silver would do it as bad, but if that pic really is a "clean" car, i guess so? i'm trying to find out because i would like to avoid the problem, but i really like the silver.

Hey Brian;

My car is the same color...the reason the color of the bumper is different is probably becuase they repainted it...I only had that problem when my car was repainted because of an accident...I don't see any evidence of color fade or anything...The color of the car is actually platium not really silver...it is silver with a little spice of blue in it...

I think its the sexiest color for the sc...I will never regret getting it....

I had a 1993 sc 400. Very clean, only 60K mileage, but the color on the rear bumper was a terrible fade. Was that way since day 1 when I got the car in 1996. Very weird. No accidents either.

I had that same problem on my car and I talked with a few body sop people and some paint guys about it and they said that the slight differences in color is due to static charge on the rear bumper. This static charge caused the metal flake in the paint to all aligns in the same direction giving the paint a different color.

yeah, my SC's bumper is the same way...check it out...you can see a slight variance in color and it's not shadows or the light or whatnot...it is actually slightly off in color and the rear bumper has never been repainted or replaced...hopefully, with the fiberglass body kit, the bodyshop will be able to get the color to match better...hopefully...

(just in case anyone asks, that is a Veilside Titantium universal tip...)

The difference in the bumper is because of the metallic and the use of flex-agents in bumpers. The metallic lines up differently giving an illusion of color change. The flex-agent also changes the way the car ages.
