Question headlight drain /air tubes

I have read all the remedies on how to remove moisture from your headlights. I was just wondering if puting a longer tube on the drain holes and affixing it to the hotter side of the radiator would cause hotter air into the headlight housing reducing the moisture quicker? Might it shorten the life of the bulbs?

I gotta agree with onelasttry, b/c I think that the moisture and the humidity might even cause more condensation in the light. But I don’t know that’s just me.

If they are still clean inside, just remove them, dry them out with a hair dryer, then run a fresh bead of sealant around the joint.

I just got done cleaning out my lights (cascade/jet dry technique, not taken apart). I noticed that the drain tubes all had some kind of sponge in them. The problem is that after 10 years, the sponge broke down and I think the decomposed sponge was blocking air exchange. I cleaned out all the drain holes (2 per light). Of course it goes without saying (although I'll do it anyway) that you should dry everything out with a hair dryer. I also put extra silicone around the seals. If any of the drain tubes get broken, you can use some drip irrigation parts to make something similar.

Good Luck,
Ryan
