My speedo and tach needles flicker for few moments then only partial light up. My Temp and fuel are fine.

great!!WE HAVE A CERTIFIED ELECTRICIAN ON BOARD.....it's good that i can maybe finally get an assist on this project...i have the cathode tubes from an ls 400 the ones that backlight the display(tach and gas)and i am trying to find a way to ignite them..any suggestions???first of all,12v direct will not work.i understand i need an inverter to kick up the voltage to get it to work, but where can i find one applicable to this project?also, where did you get that quote for those cathode tubes??

here's a pic of the cathode tubes i will be working with....

i no longer have a link to pics due to my image host clipping my wings for remote linking. if you will specify the image you need, i'll arrange for it to be sent to you.

nextlevelcoupe- go here and download the catalog and within it you can find the ballast to fire the tubes plus a killer selection of tubes also. you'll notice they all run around 10 to 13 bucks each. there is rarely an exception.

Reference was to your post of 3/24 where you had circled a couple of areas on an image to look for problems on needle illumination. Thanks.

wanna see some cold cathode tubes in action? check this out. these are the switching tubes. as little different, but very cool.

http://www.vintagecalculators.com/ht..._dekatron.html

so whats the benefit to a switching tube?

They are much cheaper than either semiconductor devices or vacuum tubes; they do not require costly materials with a high degree of purity in their manufacture, nor do need transformers or cooling systems to operate. The tubes require no warm-up period and they can take severe overload."

no inverters, ballasts, or otherwise. this is the problem with the Lexdash design. they can't get them calibrated because they are using the non switching cathode tubes. it helps to know your options

onelasttry - Since you've done quite a few of these before, what would you charge us to repair ours if we sent you the dash? I'd think quite a few people would be interested. Crunch some numbers, and let me know. I'm sure that on some dashes you'd just need to replace the caps, others may need resistors also, and maybe some are unrepairable. How about charging a basic service fee, and then if something else is wrong go from there.
Thanks

He is goin to release a DYI kit for Is though so maybe one of us can get it and see how it can be modified to fit the sc (maybe at a lower price then $350??) its not for just the needl however but for the whole inside of the car(better then $500 !)
