Damn you people with your low gas prices. Out here in Cali I just paid $2.35 at Shell for 91 OCTANE! AAAHHHH, but I guess it's a trade off because we got all the girls. My gas light never comes on, I mean never I think it's broken. The tach will sink below the E so far, but it will never come on. I have filled it up with 1.5 gallons remaining, but that light never comes on. I get around 340, mostly freeway and some city. I want to do a tunup and see where I land. Crazy gas mileage CEO.

ok its been one month since i started this thread....and i have consistantly got over 400 miles to a full tanks of gas...when i went to fill up it was always between 19.6 and 20.4 gallons of gas that i put back into the tank...i spend 85% driving on the road and 15% on the freeway....but my 1 month average has to be about 415 miles to a full tank of gas....i just wanted to let people know that nothing has changed since i noticed a difference...

I just made a trip to LA last week, and from Pleasanton to Palos Verdes Estates, it's about 390-400 miles each way. My gas mileage on the way down was 24.6mpg driving about 350 miles @ 85-95mph, and the last 30 miles spent sitting on the 405 with an average speed of ~15-25mph. This was attained with ECT in Normal mode. Keep in mind this was also using old fluids---I was on my way to get a 75k service performed. So 24.6mpg, I was quite impressed with these numbers.

However, when I drive around town here in the Bay Area, I drive with ECT in Power mode and do frequent hard accelerations. The worst mileage I've gotten was 14.5mpg, and that was coming off racing a WRX to 120mph on a 4-mile-long straightaway, brake launching, power shifting, O/D off, PWR ECT, you know, the works.

The point is that mileage varies GREATLY depending on your driving style and the type of driving you do. Personally I think you get you best mileage driving the SC at 90-100mph with ECT on Normal mode. How do I come to this conclusion? On my way back from LA, I drove about an hour doing 70mph stuck behind the CHP, then a Department of Corrections convoy (they can ticket you too!). My high points were about 90mph max, because CHP was also patrolling the area with planes that day. So my average speed was no more than 80mph I'd say. My mileage on the way back dropped to 21.4mpg. Of course, I did spend a lot of time sitting in traffic again on the 405 again when they closed two lanes to clean up an accident. But either way I know I drove down to LA faster than I drove back home, and I got better mileage driving down at faster speeds.

yes that is true..because the computer system adjust to our driving style...and yes my car feels more comfortable from 80 to 90 but she is smoother at 120 up...and also the steering tightens as we drive faster...but logically going faster should waste more gas...lol but hey thats lexus and they knew we were gonna max out the SC...just cause we can!

ok guys i filled up yesterday at another....428 miles to a full tank...and i took my first shot at racing this weekend....very nice...good thing i got new tires...i smoked a suped up camaro..up to 140 at about 4:00 a.m. on I-696..and he has faster acceleration than i do....but he couldnt catch me..it must be the over 3000 RMP syndrome lol...odd..we took off at about 70 mph..in different lanes..i had to slow down at 140 the curves can handle it...even with brand new tires...still all that and a few 100mph+ spirts and 428 miles..gotta luv the LEX!

I'm only on my 2nd tank of gas but.... I filled up with about a 1/4 tank left and calculated 24.1 mpg which would make for a theoretical range approaching 500 miles... I'll have to pay close attention for a while and get a better estimate.

Chevron Premium, of course! Brake launch: stand on the brake pedal and slowly apply pressure to the gas pedal until you feel you car is about to jump. On green, step into the gas pedal smoothly while releasing the brake in one fluid motion.

Nice car Jon
