wanting advice before buying
Hi I've found an 1993 Lexus sc300 with a blown head gasket with around 230,000 for $800 they'll sell it for think it's worth it?

You can make that $500 back in parts no problem. I don't know how hard the 2jz head gasket is, but on most cars it's a ***** so I'm just assuming. after doing it you still have a car with 230K so everything else needs to check out for it to be worth your time. What if the tranny is shot, or you need new suspension and brake components. It can add up quick. In some cases you might be better off finding an SC for $2000 that has more right then wrong. I would buy it, take what I need and part it, or search for a cheap 2jz to swap in and keep it going.

Ive seen resurrection projects like this come out great. However, my personal experience with buying a $500 SC costed me about $2 grand, and i drove it for about a good month before all of the other years of abuse it went through were just too much to keep going.
