with more and more of the takata airbags being recalled its prolly safer to just leave it disconnected, i worry about taking shrapnel to the face cause even though in the last batch of recalls they said it didn't include our bags, now they are doubling the recall and who knows which ones are really bad or not... I think its silly that they didn't recall all of them at first, cause if they recall it after you take shrapnel to the head its not going to help you very much.

yes i did hear about this, its all over the news lately as well. for SC300-400 owners this is a NON issue, herd it was an issue for the SC430's & for the people putting GS/RX steering wheels as well..

i guess the main issue is which "airbag" did your car come from.

^ I never did get my airbag light to go out, even with the adapter. Now I'm thinking I should disconnect my RX airbag... I hadn't heard about the recalls.

I just went over the first post in this thread, my parts notes and the yesterday's and today's posts.

I'm also using that same harness adaptor with a late model MR2 Spyder steering wheel and 2001-2005 IS300 airbag.

I know the adaptor can fit many different airbag shapes of that generation but so far we have no evidence that the 1998 Supra, 1998-?? Rav4 and 2001-2005 IS300 (and 1998-2005 JDM Altezza) airbags have been recalled, correct?

Even after you followed the "airbag light dance" procedure on the data port? Maybe the RX airbag has something to do with it, being too new of a design for the SC Airbag ECU?

I tried "the dance" several times with the stock wheel and could never get rid of the code 22. I later added the RX steering wheel and adapter, then tried a few more times to clear the code. No luck. I could get the light to go out briefly, then it would come right back, same as before. So, I read the codes again and this time it had two additional ones: 14 = Open in D squib circuit, 54 = Open in P Squib Circuit.

I put a resistor in place of the passenger airbag when swapping dashes last month, so I might as well do the same with the driver's bag and be done with the stupid light. I've removed both airbags in my other car and am still living to not regret it... Wouldn't surprise me if I've got an airbag ECU issue leading to the seemingly indefeatable light.
