Question Newbie Question: Interior SC300 vs SC400

Hey all,

I was wondering if the Interior is the same between the SC 300/400 in the same year. I was looking to get a used SC mostly for luxury and the SC300 tend to be cheaper.

Thanks and sorry about the newbie question, I did browse the forums and the faqs.

I do believe the interiors are exactly the same.

Generally speaking, the SC400 came standard with more options than the SC300. As far as the interior is concerned, this would mean that a 400 is more likely to have the Nakamichi sound system with the subwoofer in the back. I think it would also be more likely to have a sunroof, although I don't know that I've ever seen any SC's without a sunroof. If you buy an SC400 from a cold climate state, you'll be more likely to get traction control and heat seaters than an SC300. This would mean 3 extra buttons in the interior.

The SC400 also came standard with wider tires/wheels, as well as nicer wheels and a rear spoiler. Don't forget the all important smooth V8 engine.

I'm not saying that the 300 didn't come with any of the above options, but I am saying that you are going to be more likely to find them in a 400.

Bottom line. If you want an SC with all the toys, get a 400. If you want an SC that you'll have to add the toys to yourself, then get a 300. Granted, the 300 comes in a 5 speed, and can be turboed, but for me the SC400 with it's V8 has been the right choice for me.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the responses. That's what I figured, I just thought I'd ask the experts.

Just some stupid nickname that got during highschool. (I used to do a real good impression) The other one I use is MrAnderson. (real name) but that was already taken.

SC400 = power tilt and telescoping steering wheel
SC300 = manual tilt and telescope ( 93-94 as least) Don't know if the newer ones finally came with power or if it was ever an option. None of the SC300 I've seen have power tilt.
This might seem minor, but it sure makes it easier to get in and out of the car.

The rest is like blacksc4 except the 92-94 SC400 also came with a front spoiler/lip as standard

My 1992 sc300 has the automatic power tilt/telescopic wheel. It does make getting in and out of the car a whole lot easier.

Jason, if you're in the northeastern part of Ohio like I am, you'll want to look for a car with TRAC. A good set of winter tires (Michelin Pilot Alpins), will help, too.

aasc300 and ryanSC300lover,
maybe the power tilt was an option, I would have bought an SC300 5-speed had it had the power-tilt and traction control but none of the 93-94 cars I looked at had them (of course over the course of 2 years searching I only found 4 or 5 in my price range) . After a little more research, it seemed only automatic cars can have traction control so I gave up and got a SC400.
