Front Brake Shaking When Brake at High Speed Help!!!
Hi everyone,
Shaking problem on my SC400 was happened during winter time and I think it might be the pads or rotors. I replaced the front brake pads and resurface my rotors last week but I problems getting worse. The driver side getting louder and shaking even more than before at high speed stop around 70mph. I went to the auto part store and ordered a new rotor for driver side and installed it today but nothing different at all. Shaking Shaking and Shaking like and old man. I’m running out of idea so please help help help.
Thank You

I had a similar problem like that on my 92 SC400 and I try to change the pads , and Re-cut the rotors. Pads didn't work and then i cut the rotors and the shaking stopped. But three days later the shaking came back. Sounds like you have warped rotors. I wouldn't just change the one rotor i would change all four, it worked for me. Also i would look around the calipers make sure of no fluid leaks, check brake fluid levels, and take it to a shop because i am guessing your alignment may be off by this. Do the simple checks first and if they dont reveal anything take her to the mechanic! Oh i would drive it until i got the problem fix because you might cause even more damage. Let me know how things go.

i have the same problems..
its not durring high speed, its just when my brakes are wet after a rain storm, or a car wash.
it does it on slow stoping speed.. the front brakes shakes like hell.
i just figured its just water between the rotors and pads, and its not use to it. nothing to worry about.

Another thing to consider is that you may have air in the brake lines. So flush the fluid and while you're out there check the calipers. If it's the calipers you can rebuild them.
Most of the shaking is a result of warped rotors due to slamming on the brakes at high speeds. I replaced the calipers and rotors on all the wheels with Supra TT brakes. No more warped rotors. I always said the stock SC brakes are too small for such a hevy car.

Rotors can be warped by hard high speed braking, but more often by tire and brake shop goons using impact wrenches to mount wheels. Once you get the shaking sorted out by resurfacing or replacing rotors, never let anybody use an air wrench to tighten your wheel lugs. Manual torque wrench only, tighten in a star pattern, 40 pounds all round, then 75 pounds. Stand right there by the car to make sure the goons don't use the air wrench...if they don't have a torque wrench, take your car somewhere else

i wouldn't re-cut the rotors personally i would just get new ones. Because if yoiur an aggressive driver as soon as you heat those rotors up a couple of times they warp and then your out all that money u used to get them cut. may i suggest cross drilled/slotted they work perfect for me!
