Default Clutch needed

My clutch is gone it's got maybe 100 miles before it just gives out. I barely get any power as I accelerate.

I would search but there are about 5 million posts about different clutches pros cons stage 2 performance and about 100 other factors.

I need to know what brand as good as OEM I want that soft lexus feel.

Or an upgrade brand that will still give me a nice soft enjoyable driving experience.

I do not plan to track it any time or any time soon. It's a daily.

Please if you can't help or your reply will be negative don't post.

I need to order it ASAP and get it changed this week.

Thank you for your help and input

Need more info. Which transmission are you running? What power levels are you planning to put through it?

97 sc300 stock manual. So I assume w58 Max power probably 400. But that's not my main concern at the moment. I just need something good with a reasonable price. I don't want eBay $79 kit but I also don't want to spend $500 on parts because with install it will be $850.

if your not boosting or anything, your best bet is to go oem or something with a full face, no 3 puck, make sure you replace the flywheel while your at it. if you dont want to go cheap but dont want to spend on a good kit, then I'm not sure what we could do for you.

Mikef what exactly would this cost me? Carson toyota is selling a flywheel from 450 clutch plates and friction plates are 120 each all in all dealer full clutch replacement is about 850 plus labor
So if you know a good brand I should go with i am all ears.
The flywheel alone is very expensive so if it's not bad why or not going bad why replace it. Car has 51k miles. What is the lifespan of a flywheel?

Dude,

I recommend an OEM Aisin clutch kit for your car. The flywheel will have to be inspected for wear; it will probably just need a resurfacing but you never know.

- good luck

Thanks freakness will look right into it

Reading the IS forum same tranny and all people recommend the fidanza setup full face. Or act with a fidanza flywheel. The flywheel is 500 bucks so if I need to just resurface that is what will be done. Act clutch kit is 350 for 285lb torque and over 450 for 395lb torque. If spending should upgrade for future progression. But I still need to paint and do valve covers later don't want to trow money away on something that might not be necessary. It's tough for me because I don't plan on molding to the extreme which is what most do.

If you go OEM this should be the correct clutch + pressure plate - $225:
Amazon.com: Aisin CKT-038 Clutch Kit: Automotive Amazon.com: Aisin CKT-038 Clutch Kit: Automotive

Have the flywheel re-surfaced regardless of its condition (unless it's cracked/broken). This usually costs $20-$40 at your local machine shop. I wouldn't spend the money for an aluminum flywheel based on your use of the car.

Thanks txmag and freakness I already looking into it. The flywheel is pretty expensive so I don't know if I want to change it if I don't have to. But will resurface.

Anything good about maybe getting a Center force dual friction clutch kit? Not sure if there are benefits

I've never run one but I've read quite a few positive reviews about them on the Mustang forums I frequent. It shouldn't have any problem holding your planned power levels.

Found some terrible reviews but I think that in any application some reviews will be bad. On a 20 year old car sometimes somethings just don't fit right. I will speak to my mechanic about the options get his input also. Guy builds rally cars also.

Amy other ideas I can look into before I but on Monday?

After reading more and more reviews I think aisin is what I'm going with. Lots of good reviews for that kit on the toyota forums

It seems there are some decent reviews on the exedy oem clutch but I think aisin is still the way. To go it's oem for toyota

Had the Aisin installed today. Drove for a few min looks good. Pedal became Super soft. The clutch catches about 1.5 2 inches from the floor instead of .5 inch from the top. Even moving the gear lever feels better and smoother. Well worth the 220+tax it cost me and the install.
