Default What is this black box?

I was replacing a burnt out brake light and I noticed this black box down inside the rear fender. There is an identical one on the other side. They have clear plastic tubes that come out of them, but I don't know where they go. I was poking around thinking that there might be a good space down there for a small bottle of NOS, but the space is obviously occupied, just don't know by what. What is it?

the black box acts like a gutter. and that tube runs one from your sunroof and the side that your gas tank is on will have 2 tubes. one for sunroof and other for overfill gas drain

the tube is the drain for the sunroof - there is one on each side

the black box is a vent - it allows air to escape from the car when you slam a door

when it rains your sunroof might not be totally be sealed and a little water might get down there where the sunroof slides back. so the water runs down those tubes to the bottom of the car.

Thanks everyone - now I know what it does. I just did not expect to see something there.

Those boxes make your trunk sound like crap when you're slumpin'. I filled them up with polyfill material so that the rubber flaps don't rattle like crazy. They still work well, just no more rattle .
