Default Help! Starting a project SC400

I have a 92' sc400 and I'm planning to do a few things to it. I Just got some Konig 18" rims. Painted Matte black. I'm going to Plasti Dip all emblems and lower it. I was looking at the Tanabe NF210 lowering springs. And was gonna put the Injen IS2085 intake in it. And I'm also trying to find a nice sounding exhaust. Was thinking magna flow? Does anyone have any suggestions for anything?? I was also looking at making it a manual but seems really pricey but I'm interested in doing it. Thanks and I will post pictures later.

Well, if you're starting a project car on a budget, you may have chosen the wrong car but manual swap and exhaust are the best mods for the SC400, really wakes it up. Being a 92 it probably needs all the usual things replaced unless you or the previous owner has already done it. The stock intake will out perform any aftermarket intake, they are pointless on the SC. I would just do the BFI mod if you just want to hear the motor.

Lets see some pictures of the car, we can then help point you in the direction of what could be done. Just remember, its your car, the only one you should aim to please on a project car is yourself, we can only give you tips to help you reach your goal.

This is my car. These are the current rims but I am painting the others as we speak. The second picture is the new rims that are in the process in being painted Matte Black.

It looks really clean, I say the very next thing you need is a drop, it'll change the whole look of the car. Springs are cheap and feel OEM but only a very mild drop, like 2". Coilovers will go much lower and since you have really small tires it's going to take a drastic drop to loose all of that wheel gap.

I'll definitely vouch for the manual conversion being pricey. I'm doing a w58 conversion and I got a deal on everything but even then I've still put in around 1600~1700ish so far, I have everything except for the front driveshaft and I really have no idea where to get one for a good price, other than here from what I've seen. The thing about a w58 swap though is if you do it, don't plan on making more than 350ish whp or you will blow it up. I've heard plenty of stories and that so far seems like the safe point. I will be supercharging my sc400 aswell down the road (was considering something very small pushing at most 8~9psi like a v9g on the lextreme bracket with a few fitment mods) but I am slightly concerned about whether it can handle the added lowend torque.. guess I'll find out
