Unhappy lowered car.. door problems..need help

i lowered my sc300 a few weeks ago
the car has been sitting in the garage ever since. however after the lowering, the driver side door is really hard to open. i open, it opens freely about 12 inches, after that its really hard, and i have to almost yank it to open it harder. the passenger side door is fine. any solutions and help will be greatly appreciated.

Check to see if your car was ever involved in some type of side impacting collision.. If so, and if there were any major frame damage then lowering your car could cause abnormal stress points on the frame and make your car not fit right per say.

the car was bought from the original owner, and it has never been in any accidents

while the car was on jackstands, i opened the drivers door a few times to get stuff out

so i wonder if the alignment of the door got thrown off?

it just seems like the hydraulic mechanism in the door isnt working, but the passenger door is perfectly fine..

You either need to rebuild the hinges or buy new ones. You are NEVER supposed to open the door of a car on jacks.. Specially not the SC with its 5000lb doors. The jack points are at the hinge which causes the door to hammer down on the bearing in the hinge mechanism.

I fixed mine last month, and it was NOT fun.

try WD-40, mine was like that. it kreckled as it opened. now it works fine...and smoother too. its worth a try before spending $200 on new hinges.

Ryan,

Once again, you need to do a search. WD40 is proven to damage the hinges. What you may THINK you are fixing is yet another horrible mistake you will pay dearly for in the near future.

My doors were popping and making weird noises too. A Toyota mechanic told to try lithium grease, its made for hinges and other things like that. Put that on about a month ago and haven't heard it make a noise since.

the noise and the tightness of the door seems to have lessened over the last few days

so is lithium grease safe to try?
