Default Would like a few opinions on my lock out torque converter to save money

Ok so I've had my automatic 92 sc300 for 6 months and I purchased it with a blown motor so I had a at home mechanic put another 2jzge in my car and now it's idling from 1k rpm to 2k rpm in park and neutral and he told me his friend that has ran diagnostics on my car (I don't have proof of it because I was working while it happened) and he said the reason it idles like that is my lock out torque converter is bad and it doesn't seem right to me because he is urging me to buy a new transmission that his friend has that's "built for performance" and I'd just like some opinions because I don't want to be screwed out of money sense I already spent 2500 on the motor

Lots of "scam" red flags there, for sure.

Yea I'm gonna have a guy that's very versed in Toyota and Lexus check my transmission out tommorow and check to see if it's actually a new motor I paid for and not him patching it up so its run till he's done with me lol
