Default Help with door mirrors up and down motion dead

I have a 1999 sc400. The door mirrors will adjust from in to out and out to in. When I am operating them I can hear the electric motor? operating, but when I try to adjust them up or down there is no movement or noise from the mirror motor. Could this be a disconnected wire at the switch? If so, can anyone tell me how to open the drivers door operating panel on the door to check this? any other ideas of what it could be? Thanks

I'm yet to take apart a SC mirror but in know other cars have a gear and pin on the mirror motors the pins can break over time and not allow it to move.

I don't even hear anything that sounds like it's trying to engage whenever I move the lever to get the mirrors to move up or down. There is what sounds like a small motor running when I adjust either mirror in or out, but absolutely nothing when I try to adjust up or down on either mirror. I'm guessing that something is not connecting on the adjustment lever switch. Anyone else with ideas? Thanks
