I have a 2002 SC430, Silver with Black interior. Purchased with 170,000 miles on it. Took it to my mechanic and we flushed and changed all fluids, Timing Belt, new platinum plugs and wires, Nexan tires, Rohanna wheels, red Brakes.

bought a salvage 93 auto for 800 and fell in love, then learned how hard it is to get a manual. sold the auto then waited for a manual i could afford. finally i found a red 92 stick that didnt run for 1000$. pick it up with my girl on our anniversary 07/09/2016 and brought it back on a trailer. the coolant was black??. and it needed an ecu. changed rear and front main cam seals valve cover. cleaned out all that caked on oil in the intake. slowly with time and getting parts from other makes and models of cars from the junkyard, im piecing mine together. put on is300 rims this weekend. these cars are the best in the world. ill never get rid of it.

Greetings fellow enthusiasts! I believe that my Silver, with Black interior, 1992 SC430 is my favorite car of all time! I have had a G35, CLK and other similar vehicles and the SC is awesome. As I was looking for a hardtop convertible, I considered another G35, the SLK, SL and a Bimmer. My mechanic recommended the SC because of Lexus' "bulletproof reliability and build quality." The Lexus dealer in Richmond, Virginia actually had two, so I went to take a look. One was a 2000 with only 50,000 miles on it and the other was a 92 with 170,000 miles on it. I went back the next day to test drive and the 92 had been sold to an auction, which I tracked down. I found the SC, test drove it and took it to my mechanic who said, "I would pay for it just for the flawless interior and exterior," so I purchased it. I dropped another $750 into by flushing and changing all of the fluids, timing chain and belts, water pump, plugs, everything! I then put some Nexan tires and Rohanna wheels on it, and I have been getting nothing but positive comments since.

It runs like a dream and sounds wonderful. I am sure that I can easily drive it for another 170,000 miles!

Welcome to Club Lexus.... But, by your user name I believe you have an SC430 which is in another forum.... This is the 1st Gen SC area while you acquired what sounds like a nice 2nd Gen SC.....

congrats! do you know how much the 2000 sc was? and was it a 300 or 400?

I know my answer to the original quetion is not in line with almost all the answers, but you asked the question so here's my answer. Purchased my 1992 SC400 in December 1991 after waiting 6 months for delivery. The price was $1000 down (fully refundable if desired) with full manufacturer list price (no discount given). Paid cash on delivery. Great car, drove for 20+ years beforing being totaled by a rid light runner.

My Soarer Story actually starts with a mk3 Supra that I traded my old e46 for. The Supra had no interior, blown rear shocks, a bad brake master cylinder, and a bondo antenna delete. It didn't have much going for it, but what it did have was important: a 1JZ & R154! I then picked up a daily Ls400 as the Supra continued to need more work. I got bored of the LS, sold it to my mom, picked up another 5spd e46, and neglected the Supra. The plan was to go single turbo on the 1jz after the stock twin turbos blew, but I ran out of funds/interest and traded it for a Miata. Now, I have just sold the Miata, so I'm going on a 4 hour road trip to Illinois to pick up a silver 5spd sc300 with black interior. It's like I get to redo my Supra and Ls400 ownership at the same time, except with one car and not two :-)
